Ground-up Superintendent
Aerotek is currently hiring for the position of a construction superintendent for our client working in the greater Washington, DC area. Our client is a commercial general contractor that focuses on interior office building build-outs and specifically working on new bank branches.
Duties:
-Candidate would oversee the day-to-day management of an individual project valued at up to $2 Million.
-Superintendent would be skilled in managing the production of in-house staff of skilled carpenters and finishers as well as sub contractors from all major trades including excavation and grading, mechanical and plumbing, electrical and masonry, to name only a few.
-Job site staffing, scheduling, materials and equipment ordering and daily communications with project managers, clients, architects and building engineers are key responsibilities of the successful superintendent.
-Construction superintendent’s should have a minimum of 5 years experience in commercial construction (preferably with a general contractor).
Successful Candidate MUST:
- Live in the greater DC area, or being willing to relocate
- Have own transportation w/ clean driving record
- Have no criminal record
- Be able to read blue prints/ construction drawings
- Have past experience managing new construction. (small base building “out of the ground construction” as opposed to simply retrofit of existing buildings or tenant fit-out)
- Have a good understanding of the inspection process required for small base building construction.
- Have a good understanding of scheduling using CPM
Candidate ideally has past experience managing new small base building projects such as banks, restaurants or any stand alone retail outlets. (projects in the 1M-5M range). They should also have any understanding of writing RFIs and have experience with managing projects with union-only labor requirements.
